Xerox launch Adaptive CMYK Plus and the PrimeLink C9065 and C9070
10 October 2019
At Drupa in 2016, we were lucky enough to meet the team from Bianco Digitale, an offshoot of an Italian Xerox cencession who had developed (along with DEV Studio RIP) a range of white, fluorescent and luminescent toner cartridges for the Xerox C60/C70 range (and some Phaser printers).
For a few years now, Xerox have been distributing the fruits of this work themselves, in the C60WPs-M and C60WPs-M-Plus (the latter of these handing 450 gsm, 167 lb Cover stocks from the bypass).
Now the Xerox Corporation is launching Xerox Adaptive CMYK Plus Technology. The new flagship entry-level production machine housing this technology is the PrimeLink C9065/C9070 (made by Fuji) and making it possible for print shops and marketing departments to deliver fluorescents, gold, silver, white and clear embellishments. Something similar is available on modified C60/C70 machines to print metallic, white and clear.
The means to print brighter colors, white and a clear laquer will provide opportunities to printshops to offer brilliant signs, posters, comms materials and white backgrounds for t-shirt and other transfers.
The PrimeLink machines are based on the C60 motor and chassis. They have a similar (wide) range of finishing options, and the same 10.4 inch interface. Maximum print resolution is still 2400 x 2400 dpi. The PrimeLinks can print onto 350 gsm (130 lb cover) - an unmodified C60 can only handle 300 gsm - and the new dual-head feeder is quite a lot faster at 270 ipm (for duplex originals). The C60 cannot produce banners. The PrimeLink does have the XLS feature (eXtra Long sheets) but at 660 mm long (26 inches) this is still short of the 1200 mm (47 inches) banner that a lot of competitors can produce.
The new machines will be on Your DMO very shortly.
