Fuji Xerox launch the first copier with face recognition
04 000 2013
To manage security and cost-control requirements, company copier users are often required to identify themselves before being able to use the machine. Various means have been used, from a simple access code, through finger vein recognition using a biometric device (Konica Minolta), to RFID cards.
Now Fuji Xerox (Asia Pacific) has launched a new range of multifunctions with identification by face recognition. The new ApeosPort-V range (A3 color MFPs running from 25 to 70 ppm onto A4) have an option called "Smart WelcomEyes Advance." Using an infrared detector to sense the arrival of a user (thereby shortening warm-up time too!) and a special camera designed for facial recognition, the copier can detect which user is in front of the machine for security and cost control purposes, and can provide the customized user interface designed for that particular user's requirements!
