Xerox launches the C75 and J75 digital color presses
07 000 2013
Xerox has announced the launch of the C75 and J75 digital presses. The J75 is to replace the 770, but we received conflicting messages when writing this article about the retirement of the 700i to make way for the Xerox C75: the 700i’s days may stay in the catalogue for a while.
Print speed increases to 75 ppm onto A4, and scanning is much more productive on these new machines. The feeders are equipped with double-head scanners, meaning double-sided sheets are scanned in a single pass – and speeds up to 200 images per minute can be obtained. We first saw this feeder on the Xerox 4110 in 2005, but it did not achieve these speeds in automatic duplex.
Both these new products also have the new quality adjustment tool. Dubbed “Simple Image Quality Adjustment,” the new tool reduces duplex alignment adjustment from half an hour to 5 minutes, according to Xerox. The press prints a test pattern and then analyzes it from the glass.
Another new feature is “Intelligent Fuser Tracking,’ which assigns commonly-used media to specific fuser units, and alerts the user of any conflict. This reduces fuser unit wear and prolongs the unit’s lifetime.
The J75 differs from the C75 in that it has the “Automated Color Quality Suite (ACQS).” Based around an inline spectrophotometer, the suite provides automatic calibration and the creation of output profiles. Like the Xerox 770, the J75 can print onto a wide range of media up to 300 g/m² while retaining the same print output speed. On the other hand, the C75’s output speed drops as paper weight increases.
These two presses are available from now in the USA, and in the rest of the world from March.
All the technical specifications and strengths and weaknesses of these devices will be available on Your DMO in the next few days!
