The Green Award 2025 goes to
Epson PrecisionCore print technology
We are delighted to announce that, for the fourth time, Epson has won the DataMaster Green Award. Epson’s PrecisionCore heat-free inkjet print technology has many fewer consumables, produces no emissions and reduces electrical consumption by up to two thirds.
The DataMaster Lab GREEN Award is for the printers and multifunction printers which, due to their design and manufacture, the technologies employed and their manufacturers’ distribution strategies, have the least overall impact on the environment. We assess multifunction MFPs’ environmental impact using 32 weighted evaluations including electrical consumption and consumables management. Subscribers to DataMaster Online will have seen our radar charts, the machines’ technical specifications and the test results from our independent lab.
“Epson’s PrecisionCore heat-free print technology has won our Green Award 2025 because it is still the print technology that does the least damage to the environment,” said Edward Bilson, Technical Director of DataMaster Lab. “But whilst in previous years Epson has been a clear winner, it is great to see all the printer brands making substantial efforts to reduce the impact their products have on the environment. This year’s top ten of environmentally friendly MFPs includes machines made by Toshiba, Ricoh and Canon in most market segments. Laser printer manufacturers are finding innovative ways to reduce electrical consumption, from reduced-temperature toner fusion to much-reduced electrical consumption in standby mode. As well as reducing the number of consumable items (such as print cartridges) that have to be manufactured and transported round the world by making them all last longer, the print brands are really trying to make them easier to refill or to recycle too, and have put in place practical strategies to make end-user take-up easier. Spent printer consumables must never end up in landfill.”
