Available for download for Apple and Android mobile devices, SharpDesk Mobile provides a way to print PDF files (provided that the multifunction has the PostScript option), and TIFF or JPEG files on compatible Sharp MFPs across a Wifi network - and also to scan form the MFP to the mobile device.
A working knowledge of IP addressing is required to install the application and to identify the destination device. At the MFP, the mobile terminal must be added to the address book as an FTP destination.
The mobile terminal connects to the WiFi router and then through the cable network to the MFP. Although WiFi connectivity is not required on the MFP, SharpDesk Mobile requires that the Wifi network segment to which the mobile terminal connects and the wired segment to which the MFP is connected are bridged to allow full interactivity. Due to security concerns, this is rarely the case in a business environment. Both HTTP and FTP must be allowed between the Wifi and cabled network segments.
