The new bizhub i-Series, Konica Minolta's next-generation, IoT-enabled multifunction SRA3 printer range aims to support customers in their digital transformation with advanced, adaptable and secure technologies.
The bizhub i-Series smart devices set the stage for the workplace of the future: a permanently connected office, an MFP that is ever more functional, ready for digital transformation in complete security. To support this revolution, the i-Series Konica Minolta offers the tools needed to increase productivity, innovation and efficiency - by streamlining business processes, enabling better security of equipment, data and documents.
This new range offers a user interface with a 10-inch touch screen - and both the A3 and A4 models work in exactly the same way, allowing users to move between devices with ease.
At the i-Series' heart lies a quad-core CPU with 8GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. In addition, the combination of maximum print speed for press-type media, high-speed single-pass feeders, digital skew correction, and high-capacity trays makes for machines that are both reliable and versatile. The Konica Minolta (software) MarketPlace provides a download platform that further expands the solutions capabilities of the new range. The new i-Series integrates business processes with sophisticated technologies such as Konica Minolta's IoT Workplace Hub.
Equipped with bizhub SECURE services, the i-Series creates a secure ecosystem in which data is protected and reliably accessible. In addition, the optional antivirus extension BitDefender automatically analyzes in real time all data sent and received, so that sensitive information remains protected from external threats. All I-Series models are compliant with the RGPD and the ISO 15408 certified HCD-PP standard: data privacy and security requirements are met.
Konica Minolta is committed not only to technological innovation, but also to the environment. The new series reflects this commitment: as part of the maximum energy saving bizhub product line, each model is labeled EPEAT Gold and complies with the more stringent Blue Angel standards.
The new i-Series models currently available are the bizhub C250i, C300i, C360i (A3 color multifunction), C3300i, C3350i, C4000i and C4050i (A4 color multifunction). Other models and features of the i-Series product line will be unveiled in the coming months.
The Gulf Print & Pack 2017 exhibition in Dubai, UAE has just closed its doors. Konica Minolta Business Solutions Middle East introduced Accurio, its new brand image for commercial printing products, to the middle-east marketplace. The manufacturer also launched the new digital toner press, the bizhub Press C71cf, dedicated to label printing and packaging.
Organized in Dubai from 26 to 29 March, Gulf Print & Pack is the trade fair dedicated to the packaging and printing industry for the Middle East and North Africa. Koji Suzuki, head of Konica Minolta Inc.'s commercial production production division, said, “Accurio will be the new brand for all of Konica Minolta’s professional print solutions. Accurio includes a range of digital press suites, state of the art inkjet, software and cloud-based tools”.
Succeeding the bizhub PRESS series, the new Accurio series machines offer additional features and options to adapt to individual customer requirements. For Koji Suzuki, the name Accurio reflects "the cutting-edge, automated, and productive Konica Minolta technology."
Launched at Gulf Print & Pack 2017, the bizhub Press C71cf is a new machine aimed at the labeling and packaging industry. This digital press particularly targets label printers that need to move print volumes to digital due to reduced run lengths, or to take advantage of the opportunities for customization and variable data printing that digital presses present.
In January 2017, Konica Minolta launched a new and improved version of the Bizhub MarketPlace platform aimed at the global market.
Launched by Konica Minolta Business Solutions USA and Konica Minolta Europe it now covers 35 countries, including Canada. The Bizhub MarketPlace Platform offers a variety of productive applications which run from the interfaces of compatible Konica Minolta MFPs to quickly and easily improve the functionality of multifunction printers and meet the needs of businesses.
Hosted on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) platform, the Bizhub MarketPlace is designed to power online stores in the global marketplace. Each country can now take advantage of all the advantages of the Bizhub MarketPlace with total customization options to meet the specific needs of their national markets.
At CeBIT last year we were treated to an MFP which made coffee. The icon of a cup of expresso on the C458's interface hid a workflow linked to the bar. So Konica Minolta Germany were able to answer the age-old question posed to purveyors of complex devices, "does it make coffee too?" in the affirmative. Surely a copier-world first, and testament to the customization options of the bizhub Marketplace.
The Bizhub MarketPlace platform provides quick and easy access to secure configuration and a wealth of useful short-cut apps. It makes it easy to connect both ways to services such as OneDrive, Google Drive or Microsoft SharePoint. In addition, applications for communication, printing of paper templates (blank forms) or even RSS feeds are also available. In addition, MFPs can also be managed centrally via the Bizhub MarketPlace site.
The full range of applications can be found at: https://bizhubmarketplace.com.
"With the industry- leading and award-winning global bizhub MarketPlace, our clients are able to tailor the MFP and its functionality to meet their exact business needs, from completely changing the MFP’s User Interface, to installing apps and connectors – all from an easy-to-use ecosystem that now leverages solutions and services in the global market," says Manuel Couceiro, Director of Konica Minolta’s Solutions Engineering Center.
The Bizhub MarketPlace platform also offers users full customization of their MFPs by allowing customers to create and install interfaces with the unique characteristics of their companies and their market. In much the same way as updates can be run automatically, user interfaces can also be deployed remotely.
By adapting the multifunction to the user's needs and not vice versa, the MarketPlace platform offers benefits to businesses of all sizes.
The Konica Minolta A3 Bizhub C458, C558 and C658 fast multifunction printers have been through the DataMaster Labs tests and analyses. They have been awarded the rare and excellent rating of 5/5 stars.
The productivity of these machines, their flexibility and the quality of both hardware and software were all particularly appreciated. Theirs is the fastest MFP document feeder ever tested by our laboratory (scanning double-sided originals at 222 ipm). Multitasking (RIPping, scanning and even OCR simultaneously) has little or no impact on productivity.
The tablet-feel interface is very customizable really responsive. There have been a few modifications to the layout in the last year, further improving their usability, which will prove particularly helpful to inexperienced users wanting to utilize higher functions. Finally, these Konica Minoltas have excellent environmental credentials. They run quite quietly compared to many of their competitors, and have a low environmental footprint, as demonstrated by their numerous certifications (Energy Star, Blue Angel and Epeat Gold.)
DataMaster's analyses and assessments are completely independent. Five-star certificates are extremely rare. To attain five stars, not only must the equipment under test demonstrate an excellent performance in most categories, but must have no major weakness in any of the evaluation criteria.
Machines' evaluation certificates and the corresponding rosette badges (as well as those for other machines in the range with the same print engine, plus any rebadged machines sold by other brands) can all be downloaded for FREE from Printer-Benchmark.com. The radar chart, the detailed results of productivity tests and other comparison tools are available on the DMO website, accessible by subscription.

New machines are rolling off the sled at the end of the year! After Xerox or Samsung, it is now the turn of Konica Minolta to launch - this time monochrome devices for Black Friday: the new A3/ledger monochrome multifunction printers bizhub 308 and 368, which replace the bizhub 364e and 284e respectively.
From the point of view of productivity, the bizhub 308 prints at a speed of 30 ppm and 38 ppm for the bizhub 368. They both have a standard capacity of 1,150 sheets and a maximum capacity of 6,650 sheets. A single-pass automatic document feeder (ref DF-704) with a capacity of 100 sheets is available as an option. Equipped with this feeder, these machines can scan double-sided originals at up to 160 ipm. They also have a 250 GB hard disk available as standard and a maximum memory of 4 GB. Finishing modules for stapling, folding (even a Z-fold), punching and brochure are also available.
Designed for workgroups, these machines are ideal for small and large organizations. They have all the connectivity options in which Konica Minolta has been investing for some time: Wi-Fi connection, AirPrint compatibility, Google Cloud Print and NFC technology. In addition, applications can be downloaded from the bizhub MarketPlace platform, available right from the nine-inch color touch interface. This space provides applications to widen the functions of the MFP.
The enivronmental aspect of all machines is a major factor in the economic development of this manufacturer, hence the low TEC (Typical Electrical Consumption) value of 1,500 Wh/week for the bizhub 308 and 1,800 Wh/week for the bizhub 368. Finally, these bizhubs are certified by Energy Star and Epeat (gold) eco-labels.
Already available in the United States, these MFPs will soon be available on Your DMO portal.
After the launch of the Bizhub Pro 758 and 958, Konica Minolta is expanding its range of A3 color MFPs. Konica Minolta Business Solutions recently announced the upcoming release of three new A3 MFPs. These are the bizhub C658, C558 and C458 intended primarily for medium and large enterprises respectively and printing at speeds of 65, 55 and 45 ppm.
These new machines fill out the range of 8-series color MFPs. In the last year we have seen the C258, C308 and C368 - where the first two digits represent the A4 print speed, and the 8 implies the high-spec range. (The entry-level range MFPs all end with a 7 - see previous articles.)
"The C658 series enables users to operate our products as easily as they would a tablet," said Kevin Kern, Vice President of Business Intelligence Services and Product Planning Konica Minolta USA. "The enhanced 10.1-inch control panel offers increased functionality, including mobile near field communication (NFC) making it simple to connect the units to your Android smartphone or tablet. In addition, IOS support is available with the utilization of Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) among many other mobile technologies. Plus, with fast dual scan speeds and large paper capacity, the new series increases the digital workflow automation capability in any business environment."
This interface is similar to that found on the C368 series, which found favor in the DataMaster Tests, gaining the machines the full 5 stars - an exceptional result from DataMaster Labs.
Of course, other mobile features have been developed by the manufacturer, such as compatibility with Mopria, AirPrint and Google Cloud Print. Also, these MFPs feature a maximum paper capacity of 6650 sheets of a 250 GB hard drive as standard - and they can be equipped with a Fiery IC-416 controller as an additional option too.
There is also a wide range of finishing options. Booklet creation modules, hole punching, stapling and folding (including one offering a z fold) are all available. "With these new multi-function printers, Konica Minolta offers offices a way to become more productive. Users have a device that is easy to operate and saves time and effort. Ultimately, the bizhub C458, bizhub C558 and bizhub C658 offer the perfect platform for collaboration, bring fluidity and security to document workflow and allow our customers to focus on their core business," added Julien Azzi, Product Manager at Konica Minolta Business Solutions Europe .
Finally, the series also meets the environmental standards, and the machines in the range are all certified Energy Star, Blue Angel and EPEAT. The bizhub C558 is already available on the European market. The C658 and C458 will follow in September.
Konica Minolta Business Solutions USA, Inc. has announced that Nuance Copitrak CSS (Copitrak System Software) can be loaded onto Konica Minolta bizhub MFPs.
By means of the bizhub Extended Solution Technology (bEST) platform, Copitrak can be integrated to provide an interface to monitor and control all the features of the bizhub. As an alternative to installation on the MFP itself, an "Eclipse Copitrak Terminal" can be used instead.
The Copitrak Systems Software solution has several editions and options:
Copitrak Embedded (called Integrated Copitrak by the developer):
As its name suggests, this is loaded onto the MFP and user authentication is done using the touchscreen
Copitrak Eclipse is a cost-recovery terminal with a color touchscreen interface and an authentication module, which can be either biometric or a cardreader.
Copitrak Desktop Print (or Copitrak Print): is a module to monitor and control print quotas. It supports secure pull printing.
Copitrak Scan: is a module for capturing and routing to document management systems, for example Microsoft SharePoint.
Copitrak Editor: this version of Copitrak offers transaction management features (viewing, reconciliation and approval) before they are transferred to the billing software.

Konica-Minolta has launched its Color Care Suite in the US, software for defining, attaining and maintaining color quality standards in the bizhub PRESS color digital presses. The manufacturer is capitalising on its Sensing instruments division to offer theKonica Minolta FD-5 Spectrodensitometer with the Color Care Suite, which should allow printers to match up to the upcoming digital production standards and to keep up in the years to come.
The Suite is made up of four different applications:
Color Care Catch – serves to measure and control the color output and verify that the quality conforms to the standards defined by the bizhub PRESS system.
Color Care Profiler – creates high-quality ICC printer profiles
Color Care MatchPatch – to refine and to optimize ICC printer profiles
Color Care Display – calibrates computer monitors and creates ICC monitor profiles
The Suite is intended to help printers to guarantee precise reproduction of colors throughout the run, and to follow quality processes the industry is working on - and also to improve the reliability of screen-based proofing.
